2016 Montrose Triathlon Raises Thousands for Macmillan Cancer Support

15 Sept 2016:  Following the successful Montrose Triathlon on Sunday, 5 June 2016 we are delighted to announce a whopping £2956.21 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Event participants were given the chance to raise funds in three ways. Firstly, Macmillan asked participants to join “Team Macmillan” and raise funds via sponsorship from friends, family and work colleagues. Participants also donated generously when they signed up to take part in the event and finally, local sports massage therapists took donations in return for a 15 minute post event rub-down to help sooth any aches and pains!

The event, which partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support for the third consecutive year, was well supported by Macmillan volunteers who manned cheer points in the transition area and at the finish line to provide much needed encouragement to everyone taking part.

Maggie Lawrie, race organiser, commented “We are delighted with the total raised this year! Everyone has been so generous and I know Macmillan are really grateful for the support which the event has shown”.

Plans are already underway for the 2017 Montrose Triathlon and the date will be announced over the coming weeks so watch this space…!
